Weekly Update: LME aluminium price trended down this week to US$2438/t; SHFE price closed lower at US$3044/t

Three-month LME aluminium fell 0.1 per cent to close at US$ 2,529.5 per tonne on Monday, May 10. However, on Tuesday, it rose 0.14 per cent to close at US$ 2,533 per tonne. On Wednesday, May 12, again fell by 1.46 per cent to US$ 2,496 per tonne and further by 1.68 per cent to close at US$ 2,554 per tonne on Thursday, May 13.

LME aluminium price trended down this week to US$2438/t

LME aluminium cash (bid) price and LME official settlement price opened the week on Monday, May 10, with a hike of US$ 46.50 per tonne to stand at US$ 2,565 per tonne. But Tuesday onwards, the prices started showing downtrend to US$ 2,549.50 per tonne. On Wednesday, May 12, both LME aluminium cash (bid) price and LME official settlement price declined further by US$ 75.50 per tonne to stand at US$ 2,474 per tonne. On Thursday, May 13, the prices came in at US$ 2,422.50 per tonne, decreasing by US$ 51.50 per tonne from the previous day. However, On Friday, May 14, the prices inched up by US$ 15.50 per tonne to close the week at US$ 2,438 per tonne.

3-months bid price and 3-months offer price also trended down this week after growing on Monday from US$ 2,523.50 per tonne to US$ 2,577 per tonne. On Tuesday, the prices declined to US$ 2,565 per tonne and further to US$ 2,492.50 per tonne on Wednesday, May 12. On Thursday, May 13, both 3-months bid price and 3-months offer price by US$ 56.50 per tonne to stand at US$ 2,436 per tonne. On Friday, May 14, they closed the week at US$ 2,462.50 per tonne, up by US$ 26.50 per tonne from the previous day.

Dec 22 bid price and Dec 22 offer price slipped from US$ 2,550 per tonne on Monday to US$ 2,450 per tonne on Friday.

SHFE Aluminium Price Trend

Benchmark aluminium price for SHFE also trended down this week from US$ 3,117 per tonne on Monday, May 10, to US$ 3,044 per tonne on Friday, May 14. On Tuesday, May 11, the price stood at US$ 3,087 per tonne, down by US$ 30 per tonne from the previous day. On Wednesday, May 12, it inched up by US$ 2 per tonne to US$ 3,089 per tonne but again decreased to US$ 3,068 per tonne on Thursday, May 13. On Friday, May 14, the price closed even lower at US$ 3,044 per tonne.
