Weekly update: Aluminium ingot price in China saw downward trend this week; Alumina price performed higher

SMM aluminium ingot price witnessed downward trend this week. The week started with a decrease of RMB 40 per tonne and RMB 70 per tonne on Monday, 31 May and Tuesday 01 June to RMB 18780 per tonne and RMB 18710 per tonne. The price on Thursday stood at RMB 18670 per tonne, down RMB 10 per tonne from Wednesday. Aluminium price plunged by RMB 410 per tonne on Friday, 4 June 2021 to RMB 18260 per tonne. The price is expected to move within a range of RMB 18240-18280 per tonne.

As updated by Shanghai Metals Market, social inventories of primary aluminium across eight consumption areas in China, including SHFE warrants, continued to decline this week. The stocks dropped by 8,000 tonnes from the week before to 954,000 tonnes as of Thursday, 03 June 2021.

The alumina price in China performed higher this week. The price stood higher by RMB 3 per tonne to stand at RMB 2465 per tonne on Monday, May 31 2021. The price on Wednesday and Thursday increased by RMB 7 per tonne and RMB 4 per tonne to RMB 2472 per tonne and RMB 2476 per tonne after remaining flat on Tuesday. The price did not show any movement on Friday, 04 June 2021.

Other raw materials like Bauxite (6.0≤Al/Si＜7.0)Shanxi, Australian Alumina FOB Price, Prebaked Anode Central, and Al Fluoride are hovering at RMB 540 per tonne, USD 279 per tonne, RMB 4450 per tonne and RMB 7600 per tonne as of Friday, 04 June 2021.
