Weekly update: Aluminium ingot price in China performed mixed this week; Alumina price remained restrained

SMM aluminium ingot price started the week with a hike of RMB 60 per tonne on Monday, March 29 2021 to RMB 17390 per tonne. The price on Tuesday and Wednesday declined to stand at RMB 17340 per tonne and RMB 17160 per tonne. The aluminium price closed the week higher at RMB 17430 per tonne on Friday, 02 April 2021, from Thursday’s price of RMB 17260 per tonne. It is likely to trade between RMB 17410- 17450 per tonne.

According to the Shanghai Metals Market, social inventories of primary aluminium rose 8,000 tonnes across eight major consumption areas in China, including SHFE warrants, to come in at 1.251 million tonnes as of Thursday, April 1.

The aluminium alloy (ADC12) price remained almost flat. The price did not show any movement on Monday and Tuesday. ADC12 price on Wednesday dropped by RMB 50 per tonne to RMB 17900 per tonne. Aluminium price on Friday, 02 April ended higher by RMB 50 per tonne to RMB 17950 per tonne. It is likely to trade between RMB 17850- 18050 per tonne.

The alumina price in China remained restrained this week. The average spot alumina price is currently standing at RMB 2338 per tonne as of Friday, 02 April 2021.

Other raw materials like Bauxite (6.0≤Al/Si＜7.0)Shanxi, Australian Alumina FOB Price, Prebaked Anode Central, and Al Fluoride are hovering at RMB 540 per tonne, USD 274.5 per tonne, RMB 4110 per tonne and RMB 8575 per tonne as of Friday, 02 April 2021.
