
The United Arab Emirates, one of the top aluminium exporters to the US, accounted for 8% of all aluminium imports by the US in January 2020.
The UAE’s exports of crude metals and alloys to the US stood at 31,000 tonnes in January 2020, a decrease of 39.69% or 20,400 tonnes year-on-year. The UAE had exported 51,400 tonnes to the US in January 2019, according to the latest Mineral Industry Survey report from the US Geological Survey.

On a month on month comparison, exports dropped 8.55% or 2,900 tonnes from 33,900 tonnes. Compared with November, the UAE’s exports of crude metal and alloys to the US stood 31.87% lower from 45,500 tonnes.
On the import side, the UAE imported 939 tonnes of aluminium (crude metal and alloys, aluminium semi-finished products and scrap) from the US in January 2020 as compared to 154 tonnes in January 2019. Imports of crude metals and alloys, semi-finished, and scrap stood at 4 tonnes, 43 tonnes, and 892 tonnes, respectively.
