TVS Motor Company, a respected producer of two and three-wheelers, debuted its much-awaited flagship crossover electric scooter, TVS X, with a slew of industry-first features as part of its commitment to provide sustainable transportation solutions internationally. The TVS X is constructed on an all-new platform with a high-quality cast aluminium alloy frame as its central piece. The debut represents a major step forward in the development of electric transportation.

The TVS X is India's first electric scooter with single-channel ABS, which improves braking safety. It is powered by a 4.4kWh battery with a range of 140km on a single charge. A Smart X Home quick charger can charge the battery from 0 to 50% in 50 minutes (with an optional 3kW fast charger add-on), while a portable 950W charger can charge the battery to 80% in 4 hours and 30 minutes.

The TVS Xleton frame is an industry standard, designed with maximum rigidity and longevity. The arrangement enhances space and convenience by flowing into a mono-cast subframe. Specialised design, engineering, and software teams created everything from the vehicle dynamics, control software, powertrain, aluminium frame, new OS, and robust software architecture.

Speaking at the launch, Sudarshan Venu, Managing Director of TVS Motor Company, stated, "Our dedication to harness technology and innovation towards a greener and more sustainable future has brought to us this incredibly desirable machine. This launch marks a defining moment in TVS Motors journey of showcasing a made-in-India EV, the TVS X. It has been designed for the global citizens, who are trendsetters and visionaries with a passion for technology."

Compared to the category norm, the TVS Xleton frame has >2X the torsional stiffness and >4X the vertical stiffness, providing great agility and exceptional steering accuracy. It is supplemented with a neatly designed battery unit that manages the centre of gravity and delivers best-in-class characteristics that improve the rider's control sensation. Specially formulated tyre compositions for the TVS X increase grip while decreasing rolling resistance.

The reduced drag resistance guarantees that the vehicle cuts through the air with little resistance, increasing the vehicle's efficiency. This also has a segment 1stRam Air Cooled Motor, as opposed to traditional forced convection cooling techniques, which enables dynamic cooling of essential sections while delivering sustained performance.

"It is set to inspire a shift towards premium yet sustainable and technologically advanced mobility solutions. It leads the way to becoming a global benchmark for a machine that is born electric. The TVS X embodies innovation with a disruptive mindset. It has sustainability at its core and embodies the next era of clean mobility. With its remarkable performance, premium aesthetics, and integrated, intuitive, and personalised experiences, we believe it will redefine mobility worldwide," added Sudarshan Venu.

Sustainability in the global aluminium industry

The redesigned rider interface has a 10.2-inch HD+ TFT touchscreen, the biggest in its class, and allows for more customisation. To add to the convenience, the immense cluster above the forged aluminium handlebar can be tilted, ensuring the rider has the optimum vision in all riding situations. The TVS X is one of the most innovative two-wheelers on the market, with a high level of customisation.

However, the past few years have also witnessed countries across the world renewing carbon neutrality goals and revamping their policies and approach to achieve these goals. These years have also seen a rise in the popularity of electric vehicles and an upsurge in investments in renewable energy projects.
