Teknia announced to sources: “The acquisition is a strategic move by the company to further strengthen its capability in manufacturing components for new mobility solutions.”

“Aluminium and magnesium injection and machining technologies, due to their better characteristics compared to other materials, are increasingly relevant for the manufacture of components for electric vehicles,” the company added.

The plant is located in Vimmerby in southern Sweden, which means it has smooth relations with Germany. Svensk Tryckgjutning estimated sales of over SEK20 million in 2022 and is expecting optimistic growth in 2023. The plant employs more than 100 workers, and its customer range includes Tier 1 suppliers and prime automotive OEMs.

Teknia has preferred Swedish company Svensk Tryckgjutning because of its extended technological prowess for magnesium and aluminium injection moulding in northern Europe. For the last ten years, the company has been supplying injection moulded solutions in the vicinity, generating many recurring clients.

With this acquisition, Teknia is the proud owner of 23 factories, with a business spread across 13 countries.

Javier Quesada de Luis, the managing director of Teknia, narrated: “The acquisition of this plant in Sweden is part of our strategy to increase our production capacity in a booming technology such as aluminium injection moulding while incorporating a new, highly specialised technology, magnesium injection moulding. We continue to look for opportunities in Europe and America to continue growing and positioning ourselves as a benchmark company thanks to our multi-material offer.”

“This acquisition complements our strategy, which is currently focused on incorporating industrial groups. With this new plant in Sweden, we are adding to our perimeter a factory that provides a differential value through a highly specialised technology with great potential,” he concluded.

Outlook 2023

After the complete acquisition, the new conglomeration would be named Teknia Vimmerby. The newly merged firm will oversee the aluminium business of the brand, exploring new technologies in making aluminium solutions lighter for application in electronic vehicles. This will be the company’s fourth unit that houses aluminium injection technology, including its existing plants in Ampuero (Spain), Oradea (Romania) and Tepeji del Río (Mexico). This acquisition also equips Teknia for magnesium injection moulding, which is again required in the automobile sector.
