Strength of UAE primary aluminium industry promoted at Platts 2014

DUBAL and EMAL’s participation at Platts 2014 is multi-tiered:
The two companies will have a combined exhibition stand, appearing for the first time as operating subsidiaries of Emirates Global Aluminium ("EGA") - a jointly-held, equal-ownership company whose formation was announced mid-2013 by shareholders Mubadala Development Company of Abu Dhabi and the Investment Corporation of Dubai; and into which DUBAL and EMAL have been integrated.
The Platts 2014 delegate bags have been sponsored by EGA, and sport the company’s recently-revealed corporate identity.
Walid Al Attar (Chief Marketing Officer of EGA) will address delegates during the first session of the symposium, the theme of which is ’Global and regional aluminium markets - managing growth, competition and oversupply’. Al Attar’s presentation will focus specifically on the primary aluminium industry in the Middle East, the region’s increasing role in the global sector and the impact of prevailing trends on aluminium producers in the Middle East. With almost 30 years’ experience in the industry, Al Attar is responsible for the marketing and sales of all the aluminium produced by DUBAL and EMAL - which amounted to 1,864,000 tonnes in 2013 (240,500 tonnes of which was sold in the USA).
Commenting on the two companies’ involvement in Platts 2014, Al Attar says, "In our opinion, the annual Platts aluminium symposia offer a strong and credible forum for high-level discussions on industry issues. This year’s symposium, being the first such forum in 2014, provides an ideal opportunity to state the position of the Middle East industry and to introduce the newly-formed EGA to an important audience. The organisers advise that Platts 2013 attracted over 2013 delegates across the industry spectrum; and we’re excited at the prospect of our core messages reaching as large a group of people during this year’s event."
