Alcoa of Australia has reportedly handed over major multi-disciplinary services contract worth $90 million to SRG Global. The scope of services includes heavy mechanical and electrical maintenance, specialist rope access and scaffold services at Alcoa’s alumina refinery in Kwinana, Western Australia.

This contract is valid for five years. Early next year, SRG Global is expected to commence mobilisation to the site.

According to SRG Global managing director David Macgeorge, this contract is a very significant announcement for the company as it will help in their asset services division.

He also said, “It showcases our ability to deliver multi-disciplinary integrated solutions for Tier 1 customers.”

Alcoa’s Kwinana refinery extracts alumina from bauxite produced in the company’s Huntly and Willowdale mines in the Darling Down, Western Australia. The alumina is then exported to global customers, with a small amount shipped to its Victorian smelter.

In a year, Alcoa refines around 9 million tonnes of alumina. Its production in Western Australia accounts for around 7 per cent of total world production.

“We look forward to building a long-term partnership with Alcoa to deliver value-engineered maintenance and access services that drive value for their operations,” Macgeorge concluded.
