Romanian aluminium company Alro expects 2019 net profit to be lower than 2018

Romanian aluminium company Alro announced that the company currently expects its net profit for 2019 to be lower than 2018. The company expects net profit of about USD 12.4 million (EUR 11.0 million), down 78 per cent from last year.

ALRO is one of the largest vertically integrated aluminium producers, by capacity, in Europe. With an installed production capacity of 265,000 tonnes per year, the company mainly exports its products to the USA and Asia.

In 2018, the company reported net profit of RON 226 million (USD 49 million), down 29% year-on-year.

Alro also released production numbers for the full year 2018. The company produced 282,810 tonnes of primary aluminium in 2018. Processed aluminium production dropped to 77,086 tonnes last year. Primary aluminium sales increased to 153,473 tonnes in 2018; processed aluminium sales slightly decreased to 77,916 tonnes in 2018.

Alro also forecast revenues of about USD 673.7 million (EUR 600 million) in 2019, an increase of 2 per cent from last year.
