Ferrari is accelerating its India expansion as anticipation builds around the proposed India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA), with the luxury sports carmaker reporting more than a doubling of orders ahead of the deal. Alongside plans to extend its dealership network to five cities, Ferrari is strengthening its India-focused team, customer engagement and personalisation services as expectations of lower import duties bring fresh attention to the country’s luxury car market.
EU trade deal lifts demand expectations
Ferrari’s senior leadership said orders from India have more than doubled in anticipation of the FTA, which is expected to come into force in early 2027, subject to the required approvals. The agreement is set to reduce import duties on European-made luxury cars from around 110 per cent to 30–35 per cent in the first year, before a phased reduction to 10 per cent, subject to initial annual quotas.
“See, this is big, it’s more than what you say,” stated Francesco Bianchi, President of Ferrari Far and Middle East, when asked whether demand had doubled.

Charles Antoine Geneste, Ferrari’s head of Southeast Asia, said prospective buyers were already approaching dealerships to discuss configurations and potential prices ahead of the tariff changes. With Ferrari typically maintaining an 18-month waiting period between order placement and delivery, some Indian customers are looking to plan their purchases in advance.
Ferrari is also expanding its physical presence. It plans to open dealerships in Chennai with the KUN Group and in Ahmedabad with the Infinity Group, adding to its existing locations in New Delhi, Bengaluru and Mumbai. The company has also opened personalisation centres in Chennai and Ahmedabad, allowing customers to customise their cars’ interiors and exteriors.
A sharper focus on India
Ferrari’s India strategy has evolved beyond dealership expansion. Over the past two years, the company has restructured its regional operations to give India greater prominence, appointed Aayush Tiwari as country manager and offered prospective buyers test drives in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru to assess how its cars perform under Indian road conditions.
“We deliberately decided to have a team that is focused on India and Southeast Asia,” Bianchi noted, adding that India had become the main growth engine for the region.

The company is showcasing its models through Universo Ferrari, an exhibition in New Delhi running until November 1. The display includes its Formula One race car, Le Mans model and luxury road cars. The exhibition is among a series of initiatives aimed at building a stronger relationship with Indian customers and enthusiasts.
“The first edition in India reflects the importance we place on building an enduring relationship with this nation and its growing community of Ferraristi, clients and enthusiasts,” mentioned Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna.
Ferrari has also worked with students at India’s National Institute of Design to develop computer-generated car concepts inspired by ten locations: Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Varanasi and Goa. These prototypes could bring local design influences into future development.

Registrations reflect emerging potential
Ferrari’s reported registration figures point to a gradually expanding market. India recorded 35 Ferrari registrations in 2024, rising nearly 29 per cent to 45 units in 2025. A further 45 units were registered in the first nine months of 2026.
Bianchi said India’s growing wealth and the limited penetration of the luxury sports car segment made the market increasingly relevant to the company.
Ferrari has also unveiled its electric vehicle (EV), Luce, at the New Delhi exhibition. However, electric vehicles imported from European countries are not covered by the proposed India-EU FTA, according to the supplied report.
