On Wednesday, November 11, the International Aluminium Institute (IAI) published a set of guidelines on Fatigue Risk Management for the aluminium industry, aiming to help IAI member companies and other aluminium industry stakeholders to manage fatigue in the workplace with a systematic approach. The Dutch Aluminum smelter Aldel in Delfzijl is cutting sixty to seventy jobs due to the outcome of the corona crisis. An Adel spokesperson confirms the news, as the COVID-19 pandemic has reduced the demand of the aluminium produced by the firm. Romania’s Alro Group, one of the largest vertically integrated aluminium producers in Europe by production capacity has disclosed on 10 th November’20, that it is borrowing a total $150 million in extension to a $235.1 million credit facility, which was first accessed in 2015. According to the latest report released by the US Geological Survey, domestic primary aluminium production in the United States stood at 80,000 tonnes in August 2020, slightly down by 2,000 tonnes or 2.44 per cent from 82,000 tonnes in the month earlier. The average daily production came in at 2,580 tonnes, 2.64 per cent lesser than 2,650 tonnes in July 2020 and 11 per cent lesser than in August 2019.
