Ultromex, supplier of vital technologies to the aluminium smelting industry in dealing with its production wastes has signed a major deal with Rio Tinto to remediate a salt slag landfill site in Europe. Ultromex introduces SALTROMEX, a patented plant & technology enabling aluminium smelters to treat and recycle their salt slag wastes. The UK based technology firm Ultromex, together with its partner EJM Hydrovac, will excavate process and re-instate the site in France during the next three years. Hydro announced that it has been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index. The company is the only aluminium company on the list for 2020. This is the 22nd year in a row that that Hydro is included in the DJSI series. “I am very pleased to see that Hydro’s effort to act on our values and targets throughout the organization is valued by DJSI," said Kirsten Margrethe Hovi, Head of Extra-Financial Reporting in Hydro. Iran's production of aluminium ingots stood at 247,335 tonnes during the first seven months of the current Iranian calendar year (20 March-21 October). That was up 69 per cent compared with the same period last year. Aluminium ingot output rose by 56 per cent in the seventh month of this year. The production came in at 35,556 tonnes. Production of the aluminium ingot in Iran is likely to grow by 63 per cent by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2021). Iran has an estimated aluminium nameplate capacity of 457,000 tonnes per year. The country now aims at increasing its annual aluminium output to more than 800,000 tonnes by March 2022 and to 1.5 million tonnes by 2025.
