According to data released by the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (GACC), China's total bauxite imports reached 18.33 million tonnes in September 2026, up 18.7 per cent month-on-month and 15.4 per cent year-on-year. Over January-September, cumulative bauxite imports totalled 173.9 million tonnes, up 10.3 per cent year-on-year, with overall imported ore supply remaining at elevated levels. According to Mysteel's data, Chinese alumina producers consumed approximately 128.79 million tonnes of imported ore on a cumulative basis from January to September 2026. There’s a new way to recycle aluminium cans in the Flathead while also giving back to the community. Ryan Ellis of Coram has created two community aluminum can recycling trailers for 24 hour a day drop-off. The trailers are located at Park Provisions in Coram off Highway 2 and the Columbia Falls Community Market on Veterans Drive. Once full, Ellis takes the trailers to Pacific Steel and Recycling in Kalispell and unloads the cans. Proceeds from the cans go to Gateway to Glacier Trails which builds and maintains bike and hiking trails across the Flathead.
