Montenegro's economy is transitioning to a market system. Around 90% of Montenegrin state-owned companies have been privatized, including 100% of banking, telecommunications, and oil distribution. The major industrial sectors that support the economy of the nation are aluminium, steel, consumer good, etc.
Uniprom KAP or Aluminium Plant Podgorica, is a Montenegrin aluminium smelter company, located on the southern outskirts of Podgorica, Montenegro. The alumina import of the Balkan nation during 2017-19 was recorded at 171,323 tonnes and the expenditure occurred for the import stood at $74.40 million. The import for 2020 has been marked at 51,165 tonnes and the foreign revenue expenditure to be remaining at $16.26 million. When the import and expenditure figures get assorted to the preceding three years it illustrates 222,488 tonnes and $90.66 million respectively.
In 2017, Montenegro’s import of alumina stood at 33,361 tonnes and the expenditures remained at $12.60 million, whereas in 2018 the alumina importation saw growth by 129.30%, as the import volume stood at 74,499 tonnes and expenditures shot up to $35.97 million.
The nation’s alumina import in 2019 depicts downfall by 19.65%, as the import volume dropped to 61,463 tonnes and expenditure also fell to $25.83 million.
Alumina import for 2020 has been analysed with de-growth by 16.75%, as the import volume is expected to dip at 51,165 tonnes.
Montenegro’s major trading nations for alumina import are Greece, Spain, Bosnia Herzegovina, Malta, Romania, etc.
