LME aluminium price surges by US$30/t to stand at US$3,036/t; SHFE price slumps by US$24/t

LME aluminium opened at US$3,012 per tonne on Wednesday and closed at US$3,053 per tonne, an increase of US$33 per tonne or 1.09%.

On Wednesday, January 19, LME aluminium cash (bid) price hiked by US$30 per tonne or by 0.99% to peg at US$3,035 per tonne. LME aluminium official settlement price also showed a surge of US$30 per tonne or by 0.99% to settle at US$3,036 per tonne. 3-month bid price and 3-month offer price registered at US$3,026.50 per tonne and US$3,027 per tonne. December 23 bid price and December 23 offer price was recorded at US$2,733 per tonne and US$2,738 per tonne.

LME aluminium opening stock stood at 878750 tonnes. Live warrants and Cancelled warrants for the same day was found to be 474675 tonnes and 404075 tonnes.

LME aluminium 3-month Asian Reference Price closed at US$3,021.09 per tonne, for the same day.

SHFE aluminium price

On Thursday, January 20, the benchmark aluminium price for SHFE has gone down by US$24 per tonne to come in at US$3,368 per tonne.

The most-traded SHFE 2202 aluminium closed up 1.77% or RMB 375 per tonne to RMB 21530 per tonne, with open interest down 10718 lots to 129016 lots.

Overnight, the most-traded SHFE aluminium contract opened at RMB 21,660 per tonne, with the highest and lowest prices at RMB 21,820 per tonne and RMB 21,505 per tonne before closing at RMB 21,620 per tonne, up RMB 115 per tonne or 0.53%.
