LME aluminium price moves down by US$14.5/t to settle at US$2,655/t; SHFE price slips by US$33/t

LME aluminium opened at US$2,648.5 per tonne on Thursday and closed at US$2,613 per tonne down US$35 per tonne or 1.32 percent.

On Thursday, December 2, LME aluminium cash (bid) price decreased by US$15 per tonne or by 0.56 percent to close at US$2,654 per tonne. LME aluminium official settlement price also moved down by US$14.5 per tonne or by 0.54 percent to total at US$2,655 per tonne. 3-month bid price and 3-month offer price closed at US$2,639.50 per tonne and US$2,640 per tonne, as of Thursday. December 22 bid price and December 22 offer price was recorded at US$2,630 per tonne and US$2,635 per tonne.

LME aluminium opening stock settled at 889575 tonnes. Live warrants for the same day were recorded at 677225 tonnes, while cancelled warrant closed at 212350 tonnes.

LME aluminium 3-month Asian Reference Price was recorded at US$2,637 per tonne, as of Thursday, December 2.

SHFE Aluminium Price Trend

On Friday, December 3, the benchmark aluminium price for SHFE has shrunk by US$33 per tonne to score at US$2,936 per tonne. 

The most-traded SHFE 2201 aluminium closed down 1.24 percent or RMB 235 per tonne to RMB 18765 per tonne, with open interest up 4088 lots to 199735 lots.

Overnight, the most-traded SHFE 2201 aluminium contract opened at RMB 18,840 per tonne, with the highest and lowest prices at RMB 18,850 per tonne and RMB 18,580 per tonne before closing at RMB 18,665 per tonne, down RMB 100 per tonne or 0.53 percent.
