
LME aluminium opened at US$2,405 per tonne on Monday and closed at US$2,388.5 per tonne, down US$5 per tonne or 0.21 per cent.

On Monday, August 22, both LME aluminium cash bid price and LME aluminium official settlement price went up by US$11.5 per tonne or 0.48 per cent to settle at US$2,387 per tonne and US$2,387.50 per tonne.
3-month bid price and 3-month offer price for the same day stood at US$2,380 per tonne and US$2,380.50 per tonne, after experiencing a similar growth of US$7 per tonne or 0.29 per cent.
December 23 bid price and December 23 offer price also went up by US$8 per tonne or 0.33 per cent to rest at US$2,425 per tonne and US$2,430 per tonne.
LME aluminium opening stock was recorded at 273325 tonnes. Live warrants and Cancelled warrants came in at 172375 tonnes and 100950 tonnes.
LME aluminium 3-month Asian Reference Price clocked at US$2,390.01 per tonne after witnessing a drop of US$2.48 per tonne or 0.10 per cent.
SHFE aluminium price
On Tuesday, August 23, the benchmark aluminium price for SHFE slipped by US$9 per tonne or 0.33 per cent to peg at US$2,715 per tonne.
The most-traded SHFE 2209 aluminium closed up 0.6 per cent or RMB 110 per tonne to RMB 18,580 per tonne, with open interest down 6,233 lots to 131,711 lots.
The most-traded SHFE 2209 aluminium contract opened at RMB 18,440 per tonne overnight and rose to RMB 18,615 per tonne before closing at RMB 18,550 per tonne, down RMB 30 per tonne or 0.16 per cent.
