LME aluminium price dips by US$6/t to stand at US$2,625 per tonne; SHFE price slumps by US$16/t

LME aluminium opened at US$2,625 per tonne last Friday and closed at US$2,611 per tonne, down US$16 per tonne or 0.61 percent.

On Friday, December 10, LME aluminium cash (bid) price dipped by US$6 per tonne or by 0.22 percent to stand at US$2,624 per tonne. For the same day, LME aluminium official settlement price also dropped by US$6 or by 0.20 percent to peg at US$2,625 per tonne. 3-month bid price and 3-month offer price registered at US$2,617 per tonne and US$2,619 per tonne, respectively. December 22 bid price and December 22 offer price closed at US$2,610 per tonne and US$2,615 per tonne.

LME aluminium opening stock settled at 913200 tonnes. Live warrants for the same day were recorded at 741050 tonnes and cancelled warrant for the same day registered at 172150 tonnes.

LME aluminium 3-month Asian Reference Price closed at US$2,631.79 per tonne.

SHFE Aluminium Price Trend

On Monday, December 13, the benchmark aluminium price for SHFE slipped by US$16 per tonne to close at US$2,642 per tonne.

The most-traded SHFE 2201 aluminium closed up 0.53 percent or RMB 100 per tonne to RMB 18900 per tonne, with open interest down 8467 lots to 170222 lots.

Global Aluminium Foundry

During last Friday’s night session, the most-traded SHFE 2201 aluminium contract opened at RMB 18,825 per tonne, with the highest and lowest prices at RMB 18,870 per tonne and RMB 18,725 per tonne before closing at RMB 18,760 per tonne, down RMB 70 per tonne or 0.37 percent.
