
LME aluminium opened at US$2,655 per tonne last night and closed at US$2,622 per tonne, down 1.35 percent or $36 per tonne.

On Tuesday, December 14, LME aluminium cash (bid) price stood at US$2,635 per tonne, after descending by US$40 per tonne or by 1.49 percent. LME aluminium official settlement price also moved down by US$41 per tonne or by 1.53 percent to close at US$2,636 per tonne. Prices of aluminium dipped on Tuesday as stockpiles in London Metal Exchange-registered warehouses increased, although losses were capped by strong demand and predicted restricted supply in major producer China.
On the other hand, 3-month bid price and 3-month offer for the same day was recorded at US$2,630 per tonne and US$2,631 per tonne, respectively. December 22 bid price closed at US$2,623 per tonne and December 22 offer price settled at US$2,628 per tonne.
LME aluminium opening stock settled at 977400 tonnes. Live warrants registered at 832075 tonnes and cancelled warrants for the same day settled at 145325 tonnes. LME aluminium 3-month Asian Reference Price stood at US$2,653.83 per tonne.
SHFE Aluminium Price Trend
On Wednesday, December 15, the benchmark aluminium price for SHFE declined again by US$9 per tonne to close in at US$2,996 per tonne.
The most-traded SHFE 2201 aluminium closed up 1.67 percent or RMB 315 per tonne to RMB 19210 per tonne, with open interest down 7624 lots to 166367 lots.
During last night’s night session, the most-traded SHFE 2201 aluminium contract opened at RMB 19,135 per tonne, with the highest and lowest prices at RMB 19,245 per tonne and RMB 19,110 per tonne before closing at RMB 19,160 per tonne, down RMB 60 per tonne or 0.31 percent.
