
The US dollar extended its increase on Tuesday. The dollar index, which tracks the greenback against a basket of other currencies, added 0.24% and finished at 100.19. LME base metals fell across the board overnight. LME aluminium lost 1%.
Benchmark aluminium price on London Metal Exchange dropped further to close at US$1443.5 per tonne on Tuesday, April 21 down 0.55 per cent from the previous day’s close at US$1451.5 per tonne.

As of Tuesday, April 21, LME aluminium cash (bid) price stands at US$ 1443.50 per tonne, LME official settlement price stands at US$ 1443.50 per tonne; 3-months bid price stands at US$ 1483.50 per tonne, 3-months offer price is US$ 1483.50 per tonne; Dec 21 bid price stands at US$ 1611.50 per tonne, and Dec 21 offer price stands at US$ 1611.50 per tonne.
The LME aluminium opening stock stood at 1298225 tonnes. Live Warrants totalled 1183550 tonnes, and Cancelled Warrants were 114675 tonnes.
LME aluminium 3-months Asian Reference Price is hovering at US$ 1488.23 per tonne.
SHFE Aluminium Price Trend
Benchmark aluminium price for SHFE stood at US$ 1719 per tonne on Wednesday, 22 April 2020.
The most-traded SHFE June contract touched an intraday low of RMB12,005 per tonne in afternoon trade. It closed the day nearly 2% lower at RMB12,105 per tonne.
