My goal has always been to unlock valuable insights from data, enabling organisations to make informed decisions and gain a competitive edge.
In addition to data-driven technologies, my entrepreneurial journey has also delved into areas such as Semantic Intelligence and Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) technologies. These deep-tech domains have opened up new avenues for innovation, allowing us to explore novel solutions and push the boundaries of what's possible in the tech space.
AL Circle: You are associated with a number of companies in the leadership capacity. Can you please share a bit about them with our readers?
Sanjoy Chatterjee: I've founded multiple companies, each with its distinct focus and mission. Currently, my primary focus is on two companies: Entiovi Technologies and Conveh. Additionally, I'm deeply involved in the development of Idéevin, a Semantic Intelligence platform.
Entiovi Technologies, established in 2017, is dedicated to software product and platform development. A notable initiative within Entiovi is the creation of Idéevin, a Semantic Intelligence Platform. Entiovi serves as a crucial facilitator and incubator, bridging the gap between innovative concepts and the realisation of concrete products and platforms, some of which may eventually operate as independent businesses.
In 2022, I co-founded Conveh Incorporation in the United States and Conveh Advanced Systems in India. These companies specialise in delivering advanced solutions in the deep-tech sector, particularly within the domain of Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT). Their mission is cantered around addressing pivotal challenges and advancing technologies in this specialised field.
My involvement in these diverse ventures underscores my dedication to technology-driven innovation and my commitment to tackling real-world challenges across various sectors, ranging from business intelligence to cutting-edge deep-tech solutions.
AL Circle: AI, Industry 4.0, and Large Language Models are the buzzwords around us these days. How do you see the metal & mining industry embracing these technologies?
Sanjoy Chatterjee: The metal & mining industry is undergoing a significant transformation as it embraces advanced technologies like AI, Industry 4.0, and Large Language Models. These innovations are reshaping the industry in several ways.
Firstly, automation and robotics have become integral to mining operations. Autonomous vehicles, drones, and robotic systems are being used for exploration, excavation, and transportation within mines. This improves efficiency and enhances safety by reducing human exposure to hazardous environments. Predictive maintenance, powered by AI, has become a standard practice. Mining companies use sensors and data analytics to monitor the condition of machinery and predict maintenance needs. This proactive approach minimises downtime and maximises equipment uptime, saving costs.
Geological and operational data analysis has revolutionised with the use of Large Language Models and advanced data analytics. Mining companies now gain deeper insights into ore deposits, allowing for more precise mining plans and optimised resource allocation.
Supply chain optimisation is another critical area. AI-driven tools are employed to streamline logistics and inventory management. This ensures timely deliveries of raw materials and reduces inefficiencies in the supply chain, ultimately leading to cost savings.
Environmental monitoring and compliance have also benefited from AI. Mining companies are using these technologies to monitor their environmental impact and adhere to sustainability regulations. This not only demonstrates responsible environmental practices but also helps maintain a positive public image.
Safety is a paramount concern in mining. AI systems continuously monitor mine conditions and can detect potential safety hazards. They can trigger alarms or automated responses to protect workers, making mining operations safer.
Energy efficiency is addressed through Industry 4.0 technologies. Mining companies optimise energy consumption, reducing both costs and their environmental footprint.
In summary, the metal & mining industry is leveraging AI, Industry 4.0, and Large Language Models to enhance efficiency, safety, sustainability, and decision-making across all aspects of mining operations. These technologies are driving a fundamental shift in the industry towards more incredible innovation and competitiveness.
AL Circle: Sustainability is a major area of interest across all industries, including metal and mining. How do you envisage AI or other exponential technologies helping industries meet their sustainability targets?
Sanjoy Chatterjee: AI and exponential technologies empower industries like Metal and Mining to adopt sustainable practices, optimise resource use, reduce energy consumption, minimise waste, and enhance environmental monitoring. These technologies are pivotal in achieving sustainability targets across diverse industries.
In the realm of energy, Industry 4.0 technologies monitor and control energy consumption in real time, leading to significant reductions in energy waste and carbon emissions. AI-driven predictive maintenance ensures equipment operates at peak efficiency, reducing downtime and the need for resource-intensive replacements.
Supply chain optimisation powered by AI minimises transportation emissions and reduces the overall environmental footprint. Additionally, IoT sensors and AI systems monitor environmental conditions, detect pollutants, and help industries maintain compliance with stringent sustainability regulations.
Exponential technologies facilitate the transition to a circular economy by promoting recycling and reducing waste through transparent tracking of materials using blockchain. Renewable energy integration is simplified through AI, ensuring stable and sustainable power sources.
