With ALUMINUM USA, Reed Exhibitions is expanding its world leading brand ALUMINIUM to one of the most important markets for the global aluminium industry. The world's second largest consumer market for aluminium is experiencing exponential growth in various end user industries, especially in transportation and packaging. ALUMINUM USA 2017 will offer an apt meeting place for suppliers of raw material, semi-finished and finished products, surface treatment and producers of machinery, plant and equipment for aluminium processing and manufacturing. We spoke to Michael Mandl, Group Vice President - Reed Exhibitions US that is organizing this mega event in association with Aluminum Association. He spoke about the main highlights of the events along with the U.S. aluminium industry and it current strategies.

AlCircle: What has been Reed’s strategy behind expanding the ALUMINUM Exhibition to USA?
Mr Michael Mandl: Reed Exhibitions has successfully taken its ALUMINIUM brand to China, Brazil, and the Middle East in order to create a platform for domestic application industries. Our strategy is to provide the US market with a full range of products and services along the aluminium value chain. We will hold the event on October 25-26 in Nashville, TN, USA.

AlCircle: As the Group Vice President for Reed Exhibitions US, what will be your main focus in ALUMINUM USA 2017?
Mr Mandl: Our goal is to create additional value for our exhibitors and attendees. This includes more exhibitors offering a wide range of products and services along the aluminium value chain, advanced matchmaking tools which allow our participants to plan meetings at the show, and for the first time a very comprehensive conference program with more than 20 sessions and 40 speakers.
AlCircle: Do you consider ALUMINUM USA to be the right platform to boost the dwindling primary aluminium industry in USA?
Mr Mandl: ALUMINUM USA is a business platform for all players along the value chain from primary to downstream. As a show organizer, we are the relationship broker connecting supply and demand in order to support the industry as a whole.
AlCircle: How will ALUMINUM USA 2017 highlight the supply chain for aluminium in the US?

AlCircle: North America drives the demand for automotive aluminium. How do you think, the exhibition will leverage upon this benefit?
Mr Mandl: Automotive is definitely a very important application industry and we are working closely with automotive manufacturer associations to create awareness amongst their members that ALUMINUM USA offers countless solutions and services tailored for the automotive industry.
AlCircle: Can we expect the exhibition to look beyond the primary aluminium majors in the US and highlight the downstream aluminium sector?
Mr Mandl: Yes, absolutely! Our 2-day event covers the entire aluminium industry.

AlCircle: Will China’s aluminium overcapacity and subsidized production be a focus point in the exhibition?
