
According to the latest report from Aluminum Association, shipments of aluminum extruded products (extruded shapes, pipe & tube, and rod & bar) by U.S. and Canadian producers stood at 191,960 tonnes during September 2019, down 6.1 per cent YoY. Compared to the previous month, shipments decreased 7.6 per cent from the August 2019 revised total of 207,745 tonnes. YTD shipments through September 2019 stood at 1.9 million tonne, off 3.4 per cent from YTD 2018.

Estimated shipments of aluminum drawing stock, bare wire and rod & bar by U.S. and Canadian producers stood at 37,194 tonnes during September 2019, a drop of 15.3 per cent YoY. Compared to the previous month, shipments rose 3.6 per cent over the August 2019 revised total of 35,833 tonnes. YTD shipments through September 2019 stood at 355,616 tonnes, off 18.2 per cent from YTD 2018.

Estimated net shipments of aluminum sheet and plate by U.S. and Canadian producers totalled 332,256 tonnes during September 2019, down slightly YoY. Compared to the previous month, net shipments declined 2.9 per cent from the August 2019 total of 342,009 tonnes. YTD net shipments through September 2019 stood at 3 million tonne, off slightly from YTD 2018.
Shipments of can stock totalled 137,982 tonnes during September 2019, down 3.2 per cent from September 2018. Shipments of aluminum foil by U.S. and Canadian producers stood at 32,658 tonnes during September 2019, a drop of 11.4 per cent YoY. Mon-on-month shipments declined 6.2 per cent from August 2019. YTD shipments through September 2019 stood at 316,607 tonnes, off 6.0 per cent from YTD 2018.
