Guiyang, the capital of southwest China’s Guizhou province, has eased its previous restrictions on issuing special license plates for vehicles in order to boost vehicle sales. The city becomes the first one to work on ending restrictions on new-vehicle sales. Guiyang started issuing special license plates for vehicles permitted to drive in its downtown area in 2011 and in order to restrict traffic; it capped the number of license plate to 2,000 per month. MX3D, the Netherlands, has reportedly built a lightweight aluminium bicycle frame – the Arc Bike II by using Wire-Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) technology. This is the second WAAM bike frame produced at MX3D, following the production of a stainless steel frame designed by the students of TU Delft. To make the aluminium bike frame design tailor fit to the proportions of the rider’s body, MX3D team has used generative design software. China’s sales of new energy vehicles declined for the second month in a row in August, data showed from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) on Wednesday September 11. Sales of new energy vehicles- all-electric, fuel-celled autos and plugin hybrids- stood at 85,000 units last month, down 15.8% from a year ago, after a drop of 4.7% year-on-year in July. New energy vehicles sale increased 32% from the same period last year to 793,000 units in the first eight months of 2019. China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) data shows that China’s wholesale new energy vehicle (NEV) sales dropped 15.5 per cent year-on-year in August, as selling costs sharply grew after the government scaled back its subsidies in June. NEV sales came in at 71,000 units last month. But wholesale volumes of new energy passenger vehicles increased 6 per cent month-on-month in August, CPCA data showed. The new report “The Aluminum Can Advantage: Key Sustainability Performance Indicators 2019” shows that aluminium cans are recycled at nearly double the rate of glass or plastic bottles.
