With the world moving towards sustainability, big aluminium players are transforming the way their enterprises worked in the past and adopting methods of waste management. It is therefore quite common to find recycled aluminium in the end-user sector. But overall, this week the sector has been quite busy with activities. Ardagh Group appointed AFRY as their engineering and consultation partner to smoothly continue operations at its newly opened Ardagh Metal Packaging factory and the Ardagh Glass Packaging factory in Brazil. The world’s largest aluminium catamaran developed by Incat, is a high-speed watercraft powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) and is being housed at the Incat yard in Tasmania, Australia. Kerala platforms from August 1 have been upgraded with Linke Hofmann Busch aluminium coaches, making intermediate journeys along the Indian Railway line. Japanese hard beverages company, Suntory Holdings will use 100 per cent recycled aluminium to manufacture its 350ml limited edition Premium Malt cans.

The USA has been under severe aluminium can shortage since the spring of 2020, and this recurring problem has resulted in the closure of many bars and outlets serving alcoholic beverages. Breweries were also largely affected by inflated operational costs. Right Brain Brewery, located in Traverse City, Michigan, was also not spared from the consequences, as internal reports claimed the prices were up by two cents per can.
Ardagh Group has selected AFRY as their engineering and consultation partner to run operations of the latest Ardagh Metal Packaging factory and the Ardagh Glass Packaging factory in Brazil. Ardagh Group is an international supplier of sustainable and recyclable aluminium and glass packaging solutions for brand owners worldwide.
