Billed as a rival the Porsche 911 Turbo S, the 570S has an astounding 319kW power to weight ratio thanks to its lightweight aluminium body panels, carbon fibre MonoCell II chassis and ferocious twin-turbo V8. The engine pushes 419kW and 600N and, according to McLaren, it'll blast from 0-100km/h in 3.2 seconds and reach the 200 mark in just 9.5s before ultimately topping out at 328km/h. Montreal-based artist creates aluminium sculpture for McGill University

Canadian artist named Linda Covit, has recently completed her aluminium sculpture gracing the grounds of the new campus for McGill University health centre in Montreal. The piece created by the Montreal-based artist is the largest among the 11 sculptors scattered across the campus and possibly the most striking. The modern sculpture has been created using lightweight aluminium bands forming tendrils that weave together to create a bulbous, cave-like structure. The structure has three openings at the ground-level allowing visitors to step inside it. The thin gaps between the aluminium bands catches the sun as it crosses across the sky, throwing dynamic shadows across its circular foundation. At night, the sculpture is lit up with vibrant blue and green peripheral lighting, representing two...

Approximately one billion disks are sold per year in the global market, with the Kobelco group one of only two Japanese companies manufacturing aluminium substrates, with a 65 percent hold over the global market share. The company has been constantly developing technologies for many years, which corresponds to higher recording density of hard disks by controlling the substrate surface roughness and waviness in nanometre order, achieving a surface defect reduction...

Fiat Chrysler considers moving Wrangler production out of Toledo; city resists

Fiat Chrysler is considering moving Wrangler production out of Toledo so that they can concentrate exclusively on the aluminium body design. The local union leader hopes that the state and city will come up with a suitable package for the company to prevent them from moving Jeep Wrangler’s production out of the area. CEO Sergio Marchionne had expressed the company’s interests to move the Wrangler’s production out of the Toledo plant since it would be too costly to build the aluminium bodied vehicle along with the Jeep Cherokee that is already built in that plant. Toledo leaders are hoping to hold onto the company and had delivered incentive packages to the company executives two weeks ago. Bruce Baumhower, president of United Auto Workers Local 12 in Toledo, says "I think the city, the...
