The project aims to supply high-quality aluminium foil stock in Europe for battery applications. Constellium executed it in collaboration with Lotte Infracell, a subsidiary of Lotte Aluminium. The equipment was installed after the construction of the new building in April 2025. The official production started when the first coil was successfully produced by the joint effort of the partnership in November 2025. The budget and duration were both within limit and the operations were carried out in a safe environment.

The Business Unit President of Packaging & Automotive Rolled Products, Matthew Perkins remarked, “The start-up of the new finishing lines represents a major achievement for our Singen team and a significant step forward in expanding our production capabilities.”

The new setup includes the latest revolutionary edge trimming and packing lines. The production flow is optimised with logistics and buffer areas. The line can process dimensions up to 2,000 mm widths and 1.3 mm thicknesses. It exhibits high productivity in working for various market segments of aluminium coils. Emphasising the importance of the project in the aluminium industry, he added, “This investment highlights our ongoing commitment to operational excellence, innovation, and meeting the evolving needs of our customers across the aluminium industry.”

Addressing the need for reducing carbon footprint and promoting sustainability, Bernd Honsel, Plant Director, Constellium Rolled Products, Singen stated, “This new capacity reinforces Constellium’s strategic role in supporting the transition to e-mobility and sustainable energy applications.” The solar power system can approximately generate 760,000 kWh of renewable energy per year. Moreover, keeping in mind the safety protocols, the building has been provided with a fire protection wall that separates it from other facilities as well as a sprinkler system that covers production and truck loading zones.

The positive result of the endeavour sets a milestone, as mentioned by the plant director - “This investment strengthens Singen’s position as a centre of excellence for high-performance aluminium products.”
