EDITED BY : 2MINS READ

Devendra Fadnavis and Bharat Gite

On January 19, Devendra Fadnavis, the Chief Minister (CM) of the Indian state of Maharashtra, commended the rapid execution of an aluminium manufacturing project worth INR 5 billion (USD 54.6 million). Led by the entrepreneur Bharat Gite, often called the ‘Aluminium Man of India’, the project was viewed as a rare example of fast-track industrial implementation. The project, which moved from a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed at the World Economic Forum last year to full-scale production within a year, was cited by the CM as a benchmark for industrial execution in the state.

Fadnavis interacted with Gite at the Forum and praised the initiative. “The fact that a large manufacturing project has moved from an MoU to full-scale production within a year is among the rare examples not only in Maharashtra but also across the country,” Fadnavis stated, and added, “It reflects strong planning, swift execution, and effective coordination between the administration and industry,” emphasising the competitiveness of Marathi entrepreneurs.

The CM noted that projects transforming investment commitments into operational capacity have a critical role to play in Maharashtra’s ambition of becoming a one trillion-dollar economy. According to him, “Marathi entrepreneurs can compete at a global level. With the right policy support, Maharashtra can scale new industrial heights.”

Aluminium casting facility at Supa MIDC

Gite leads Taural India, which has established a cutting-edge aluminium casting manufacturing unit at Supa MIDC in the Ahilyanagar district. The CM remarked that the facility had emerged as a model industrial project, generating employment for local youth and supporting regional industrial development.

He added that while strengthening the role of manufacturing in the economy, such initiatives contribute to national programmes such as Make in India, Atmanirbhar Bharat and Vocal for Local.

Company perspective and sectoral focus

Speaking on the occasion, Gite mentioned that Taural India has been expanding its industrial footprint since 2016 and supplies precision aluminium castings to sectors including energy, medical equipment, defence manufacturing, and aerospace.

According to him, a strong manufacturing base is the primary component for economic resilience and said further growth across automotive, engineering, infrastructure, electronics, electric mobility, defence ancillaries, agri-processing and high-value exports would boost the industrial ecosystem of Maharashtra.
