China’s exports of unwrought aluminium and aluminium semis down in August

China posted trade surplus decreased to 286.50 billion yuan in August from 321.2 billion yuan in July. Trade surplus was estimated to be 335.7 billion yuan in August, according to Shanghai Metals Market report.

China, one of the foremost producers of aluminium semis apart from being the biggest manufacturer of primary aluminium, witnessed a sharp fall in exports of unwrought aluminium and aluminium semis in August from July’s level.

China’s exports of unwrought aluminium and aluminium semis fell 6.8 per cent to 410,000 tonnes in August, according to the latest numbers reported by China Customs. The country exported 440,000 tonnes of unwrought aluminium and aluminium semis in July.

During the first eight months of this year, China’s total exports volume of the same reached 3.25 million tonnes, an increase of 5.7 per cent from a year ago.

China’s aluminium semi-finished products export totalled 390,000 tonnes in July and 2.52 million tonnes during January-July, up 6.6 per cent year-on-year.

Qinhuangdao SINOLION Investment Holdings and CITIC Dicastal have started operations of their co-invested aluminium alloy wheel hub project in Qinhuangdao, Hebei province. Aluminium alloy wheel hub project has a production capacity of 3 million pieces per year.
