CBA’s aluminium output up more than 10% in Aug

Companhia Brasiliera doe Aluminio (CBA), a unit of Votorantim Metais, pushed aluminium output up 10.4% in August after solving a technical issue that affected operations from the second quarter.
Since the opening of its plant in Alumínio, São Paulo state, in 1955, Companhia Brasileira de Alumínio follows a success road, marked by pioneering, technological innovations and social and environmental responsibility. Presenting, over these 51 years, a 10% annual average growth, it is the second largest Brazilian metal producer, with 400 thousand tons/year of primary aluminum. CBA has been preparing itself for a new expansion process, which will enable it to reach the milestone of 470 thousand tons/year in 2007.
Positioned among the largest global companies in the industry, it is the largest plant in the world operating totally in a vertical way, carrying out, in the same place, from bauxite processing to the manufacture of products (ingots, dowels, beams, plates, coils, panes, sheets, profiles, tiles and cables).
