BHP, Eskom decouple Al prices from Mozal power contract

BHP Billiton has agreed to an amended power supply contract with Eskom for the 506,000 tpy Mozal aluminium smelter in Mozambique. "The agreement, effective 31 March 2010, removes the impact of embedded derivatives on Eskom's balance sheet, as well as all onerous conditions," said Eskom acting chairman, Mpho Makwana, in a joint statement with BHP on Sunday.
