Benteler Aluminum expanding Holland, Michigan, extrusion operations

The facility, which Benteler, a privately owned German company, bought two years ago, produces aluminum-based sub frames, body structures and crash-management systems exclusively for the automotive industry.
The expansion largely consists of "adding welding equipment, adding some capacity," Plant manager Brian Ehler said. "It's lots of improvements to our existing capacity."The company is staying in the same building,he added.
Ehler declined to release current capacity figures.
Some of the activities are under way now and will continue into next year."With the automotive cycle, you have a couple of years to launch activities," he said. "We will be implementing these projects this year and in 2012."
Once the expansion is completed, the plant's work force will increase from 138 to more than 200, he added.
Benteler also operates other plants in Michigan and in other US states. It has plants in Canada and Mexico as well.
