
Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba), on the go to become the world’s largest smelter, announced that the company has won 2019 Safety Leadership Award, 2019 Occupational Excellence Achievement Award and 2019 Significant Improvement Award by the National Safety Council (NSC) – USA.

Alba ascertained that Safety is the number one driver of its success when it won three major international Safety Awards.
The three NSC Awards recognise Alba in various areas of Safety -- Safety Leadership Award for achieving a ‘perfect record’ of Zero Fatalities in the last five consecutive years, the Significant Improvement Award for a significant reduction in Lost Time Injury in 2018 and the Occupational Excellence Achievement Award for reducing the number of all injuries in 2018.
Alba’s Chief Executive Officer Tim Murray said: “Safety of our employees is Alba’s ‘first priority’. Alba is truly proud of these high-level honours from the National Safety Council and I thank our employees and Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) team for their extreme ownership on Safety and for working tirelessly to cultivate a safe and productive work environment.
While there is continuous engagement in Safety throughout the Company, we must remember that the only easy day was Yesterday. We will continue to motivate our people to upkeep Alba’s Safety values as we are on course to become the world’s largest aluminium smelter with Line 6.”
Alba will be presented with the three Awards at the 2019 National Safety Council Congress and Expo San Diego USA in September 2019.
