The ToZero (Towards Zero Waste in Aluminum BiW Manufacturing) project has successfully demonstrated that aluminium scrap generated during automotive body-in-white (BiW) production can be converted into powder for laser powder bed fusion (LPBF), marking a step towards more sustainable additive manufacturing. LME aluminium price graph: Aluminium prices remain largely stable as warehouse inventories continue to decline
LME aluminium prices showed limited movement on June 29 compared with June 26, with cash and three-month contracts recording marginal declines. Meanwhile, exchange inventories and cancelled warrants continued to trend lower. The LME cash bid price eased to USD 3,160 per tonne on June 29 from USD 3,162 per tonne on June 26, marking a slight decline of 0.06 per cent. The cash offer price also edged down by 0.11 per cent to USD 3,160.50 per tonne from USD 3,164 per tonne. Three-month aluminium prices followed a similar pattern. CITIC Dicastal has revised its aluminium alloy wheel supply agreement with affiliated companies, raising annual purchase caps through 2028 following changes to its supplier network and expectations of stronger market demand. According to a filing with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, the new framework agreement replaces an earlier arrangement after several wheel manufacturers became, or are expected to become, connected parties following acquisitions by parent company CITIC Group. Nine people have been arrested after authorities uncovered an alleged illegal bauxite mining operation at an oil palm plantation in Felda Bukit Goh, Pahang, during an enforcement raid. AD Ports Group, EGA launch $23M berth enhancement project at Khalifa Port
AD Ports Group and Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) have signed an agreement to upgrade EGA's dedicated berth at Khalifa Port through a joint investment of AED 84 million (around USD 23 million). The project will be carried out in phases and will allow the berth to accommodate Newcastlemax dry bulk vessels, which can carry 15 to 20 per cent more cargo than the Capesize vessels currently calling at the port. The companies expect the upgrade to improve cargo handling and berth operations. The work is expected to be completed by August 2028. Five persons, including an employee of the Kerala State Electricity Board Limited (KSEB) and a contract worker, have been arrested for allegedly stealing more than 100 kg of aluminium line conductors from the Vazhikkadavu KSEB office in Kerala's Malappuram district. According to police, the theft took place during the early hours of June 26. The accused include Thomas, a KSEB employee from Wandoor, Abdul Salam, a contract worker at the Pookkottumpadam KSEB office, and Jasir Hussain, Hishamudheen and Mohammed Haseeb, all residents of Vallappuzha in Palakkad district. Ghana has moved a step forward to boost its aluminium industry after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation (GIADEC) and Italian engineering company Danieli & C.
