Stemin S.p.A., an Italian aluminium recycling expert and a pioneer in producing secondary aluminium alloys, achieved the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) Performance Standard V2 (2017) Certification at its recycling and remelting facility in the Italian region of Bergamo. A total of 70,000 tonnes of semi-finished aluminium products are generated each year from the 120,000 tonnes of scrap metal that is processed.

“Obtaining the prestigious ASI certification, for a relatively young company in the sector like ours, denotes how correctly our vision has always been directed and how much our work is oriented towards sustainability in every aspect. Our products, made primarily from secondary material, ensure low CO₂ emissions, contributing to increased value and responsibility over the entire supply/production chain. We are truly proud of this achievement, which confirms that STEMIN S.p.A. is counted among the best European and global companies in this sector and a point of reference for its customers and partners,” said Olivo Foglieni, President of Stemin S.p.A.
Stemin S.p.A. has been successfully certified against the ASI Performance Standard at its (41) Stemin S.p.A., (K4) Stemin S.p.A., and RADIATORI 2000 S.p.A. facilities in Italy for the production and trade of aluminium alloy ingots made from scrap metal, the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) announced today. The firm recycled approximately 18% of the secondary aluminium recovered in Italy.
“We sincerely congratulate Stemin S.p.A. on achieving Performance Standard Certification for its recycling and remelting operations in Bergamo, Italy. Before the recycling of aluminium scrap into secondary aluminium ingots at these facilities takes place, various screening, analysis, classification, and sorting processes are undertaken to enable the best possible use of the recovered materials. Its ASI Certification demonstrates that the company’s pursuit of quality outputs also extends to the ESG performance of its production process,” said Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI.
