Aluminum Ingot output exceeds 140,000 tons

Aluminum ingot production reached 140,100 tons during March 20-August 21, announced a senior official of the Ministry of Industries, Mines, and Trade.
Mohammad Fatemian also said that alumina powder output rose to 91,200 tons, IRNA reported.
He added that cathode copper output reached 93,600 tons while iron ore production rose to 13.3 million tons. "Coal concentrate output reached 398,600 tons during March 20-Aug. 21."
Aluminum is considered as one of base metals which oxidize, tarnish or corrode relatively easily when exposed to air or moisture. Base metals are widely used in commercial and industrial applications.
They are more abundant in nature and therefore far cheaper than precious metals such as gold, silver and platinum. Other base metals include copper, lead, nickel, tin and zinc.
In August, a report released by the Public Relations Office of Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization ( IMIDRO) said some 2.06 trillion rials ($206 million) worth of aluminum ingot were sold by aluminum factories during the first four months of the current year (started March 20).
The figure shows an increase of 13 percent compared to that for the corresponding period of the preceding year, IRNA reported on Saturday quoting a press release of the Public Relations Office of Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).
It said Iranian Aluminum Company (IRALCO), Hormozgan Aluminum Company (Hormuzal) and Almahdi Aluminum Company ranked first to third in this respect.
The report added that the highest sales growth with 82 percent pertains to Almahdi Company.
Some $144 million of aluminum were exported during the period. The volume of aluminum ingot exported by Almahdi Company raised by 48 percent compared to the figure for the corresponding period of the preceding year.
About 62 percent and 37 percent of total aluminum ingot exported pertain to IRALCO and Almahdi Companies respectively.
