The team behind this achievement, Team Falcon Racing, has been able to reduce the weight of the car while improving its strength, thanks to the superlative quality of Alumex's aluminium extrusions.

It is heartening to see Alumex's commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles shining through in this project. By supporting the creation of a sustainable and ethical electric car, Alumex is demonstrating its dedication to upholding stringent sustainability benchmarks. The use of aluminium in the FalconE Racing project is a testament to the material's versatility, strength, and durability, and it is no wonder that Alumex is the go-to choice for such a venture.

The Falcon E1, the car at the heart of the project, is an impressive feat of engineering. With an aircraft-grade electric motor that harnesses 106 kW at 6500 maximum revolutions per minute (rpm), it can propel the car from 0 to 100 kmph in under 3.5 seconds. It is set to compete in prestigious inter-university competitions in India and the United Kingdom, and we cannot wait to see how it performs on the global stage.

The Managing Director of Alumex PLC, Mr. Pramuk Dediwela, asserted: “For Alumex PLC, this journey represents more than just a mere sponsorship, it is a testament to the company's innovation, and pioneering vision. We are proud to be able to support the inspirational efforts of the students of Moratuwa University and wish them well on their journey ahead.”

Future of Aluminium in Transportation Sector

Alumex PLC and the Team Falcon Racing have co-authored a chapter of inspiration in the history of Sri Lankan engineering. Their collaboration has resulted in a remarkable achievement that has caught the world's attention. We applaud Alumex and Team Falcon Racing for their exceptional work and look forward to seeing more such innovative projects in the future.
