Aludium, the leading flat rolled aluminium producer announces organisational restructure

Aludium, a leading manufacturer of flat rolled aluminium products and a part of the Atlas Holding Group, has announced organisational restructure in the company effective from Monday, April 1.

Markus Plakolm has been appointed as Vice President of Manufacturing reporting directly to the CEO of Aludium, Arnaud de Weert. He has been serving as the Director of Aludium's plant in Amorebieta. He has replaced Mick Wallis, Executive Chairman.  Markus joined Aludium in 2018 to lead growth projects including changes to the cast houses in Amorebieta and Alicante. An expert in improvement, he is expected to provide Aludium with extensive experience in the laminate business.

Alberto Ruiz joins as the Director of the Amorebieta plant (Vizcaya), succeeding Markus Plakolm. An ex-Alcoa, he was the Director of the Alicante Plant and as a director, recorded excellent production results, promoted innovative projects, and converted the plant into a strategic reference for Aludium.

José Ignacio Juan Planelles, until now Director of Operations in Alicante, assumes the management of the Alicante plant.

Aludium produces high quality aluminium sheets and coils with specific production parameters. The company supplies to the architectural, energy and insulation, equipment, packaging, and transportation sectors.

Aludium has a production capacity of 300,000 tonnes of 1xxx, 3xxx, 5xxx, and 8xxx series aluminium alloys at its three plants in Alicante and Amorebieta (Spain) and Castelsarrasin (France). And its production process is supported by its world-leading Cindal R&D centre in Alicante. Aludium has also invested liberally in their recycling capacity to reduce emissions by 340,000 tonnes/year of CO2-equivalent.
