Aludium’s facilities in Amorebieta and Alicante have been certified against the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative’s (ASI) Performance Standard for responsible production, sourcing and stewardship of aluminium. The facilities’ operations include re-melting/refining, casting and semi-fabrication activities as well as Aludium’s R&D Center and plant administrative facilities.

The ASI Certification program is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The independent, third-party audit of the plants was carried out by DNV GL.
Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI said: “ASI sincerely congratulates Aludium on their ASI Certification of their Spanish facilities. Sustainability is an important commitment for every business, and the growing focus on material stewardship of aluminium for a wide range of use sectors is critical. We are delighted to see the ASI Performance Standard being implemented in these kinds of facilities that are at the centre of the aluminium value chain.”
Aludium manufactures aluminium for building and construction, energy, packaging and transportation sectors.
“I’d like to congratulate Mario Allet, R&D Director, who led the ASI certification project,” said Oliver Bell, CEO of Aludium. “Achieving ASI certification in such a short time is a testament to the dedication of the Aludium team. I’d particularly like to thank Marta Alvarez Marquez from our Cindal R&D Centre who managed the day-to-day certification procedures. I’d also like to acknowledge our local EHS and HR teams. Without their support, and the work of their teams, this would not have been possible.”
