Alba wins British Safety Council’s (Gold) International Safety Award for 2015

Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba), the Bahrain-based international aluminium smelter, announced that it has been awarded the much coveted British Safety Council’s (Gold) International Safety Award for 2015 for its commitment and diligent efforts towards maintaining safety, health and well-being of its workforce during 2015.
Alba’s Chief Executive Officer, Tim Murray received the Award at a ceremony on May 6, 2016 at Grosvenor House Hotel, London.
Commenting on Alba's success, Chief Executive Officer Tim Murray said: “Alba believes that Employee Safety and Health are the two most important factors that affect our productivity and overall performance. Over the recent years, Alba has maintained an excellent track record of Safety and Health and winning an international recognition is a testimony to our efforts. We will continue to push harder and do more than necessary in order to raise the bar and meet our goals of Employee Safety and Health.”
Mike Robinson, the Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, congratulated Alba on their success in winning an International Safety Award for 2016: “The British Safety Council commends Alba on this achievement, which is in recognition of their commitment and efforts to keep their employees and workplaces free of injury and ill health. Our warmest congratulations.”
Widely regarded as a premier event in the safety and health calendar, the International Safety Award by the British Safety Council recognises and rewards organisations that are committed to corporate safety and health.
Summer Safety Campaign ‘Safety Convoy’
On Sunday May 15, the international aluminium smelter unveiled its plant-wide Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Summer Safety Campaign ‘Safety Convoy’ at the Oasis Hall.
With the aim to foster greater awareness on staying safe and healthy during the upcoming summer months, the five-day campaign focused on all aspects of heat stress, heat exhaustion and challenges caused by the hot weather as well as on general safety topics.
