Alba's plant-wide HSE Week emphasised on spreading the safety culture to families

Organised in cooperation with the Alba Labour Union, the HSE event's theme - 'Elevating Safety to Lightspeed' - symbolised Alba's move to the next level on health, safety and environment.
Along with work safety, the HSE event focused significantly on spreading the safety culture beyond Alba - to the families, especially children of all employees.
The main highlight was the Kids Drawing Competition - under the theme 'home safety' - wherein Alba employees' children participated by submitting a drawing/painting on their understanding of safety. The winners were selected and awarded by Alba's Chief Executive Officer's daughter, Faith Murray. In addition, tours for employees' families were also organised so that they could visit the plant and familiarise themselves with the company's operations.
The final day had a special celebration for all children at the Oasis Hall where they participated in safety quizzes and competitions as well as entertainment activities such as face painting, games, etc.
Commenting on the involvement of employees' families in Alba's safety initiatives, Chief Executive Officer, Tim Murray said: 'At Alba, our goal is to create an atmosphere that promotes safety behaviour, and reminds and reinforces the benefits for employees for working in an organisation safely. As we continue to make significant progress in employees' attitudes towards safety, we also aim to extend the belief of ownership of safety to their families, especially children who are the safety ambassadors of tomorrow.'
Remarking on the HSE Week, Chairman of Alba Labour Union, Ali Al Binali said: 'At Alba, both, on-the-job and off-the-job safety and health programmes are given prime importance. The HSE Week was successful in promoting safety to employees' families, especially the children through exciting activities and programmes, thus strengthening our safety beliefs and culture.'
