Alba reports higher sales in Q2 2016 despite sluggish aluminium market

Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba) reports higher metal sales in the second quarter 2016 despite the sluggish aluminium market. The total metal sales in the second quarter of 2016 are 239,739 metric tonnes (mt) compared to 232,193 mt in Q2 2015, an increase of 3.2 per cent Year-over-Year. Total production for the same period is 239,126 mt compared to 238,904 mt in the second quarter of 2015.
Alba Value-Added Sales reports an average 55 per cent of total shipments in the second quarter compared to 66 per cent for the same period in 2015. Though the total production dropped year over year, the Value Added Sales average of 55 per cent reported a sequential increase from 52 per cent in the first quarter of 2016 and it exceeded 60 per cent in the month of June.
“Despite tough underlying market conditions, we have started to see improvement in our Value-Added Sales portfolio which we expect to continue into the second half of the year.” Said Alba’s Executive Officer, Tim Murray, commenting on the company’s sales and production for Q2 2016,
