The Aluminium Extruders Council (AEC) has been recognized as an “approved provider” by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) for their educational webinar platform. According to Jeff Henderson, AEC President, AEC webinars are designed as an effective method to circulate essential information about the aluminium extrusion process, applications, design and more to engineers, designers, architects, specifiers, and academia. “With AIA’s recognition of AEC as an approved provider, those webinars can be even more valuable,” he added.

This expanded program will be launched on August 24, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. EDT with a one-hour webinar targeted to the architectural community: “Leveraging Aluminium Extrusions’ Attributes for Effective Building Solutions”. AEC is bringing together notable speakers like Lewie Smith, President of Jordan Aluminium Extrusion Company in Memphis, Tennessee and Shayne Seever, VP Administration for Sierra Aluminium in Riverside, California. These well known extruders are expected to share loads of information and expertise to the audience from the building and construction sector.
The webinar will review of the qualities of aluminium and the extrusion process and their benefits for modern architectural designers. It will also discuss factors like alloy selection, part geometry, and fabrication which are significant for perfect building solutions. The presentation will also discuss actual case studies in relation to creative and cost-effective extrusion solutions to the building sector. The webinar will cater to designers or engineers with limited exposure to aluminium’s qualities, the extrusion process and extrusion designs.
“Many designers and engineers graduate from higher learning institutions having learned little about the aluminium extrusion process and the unique attributes that make designing with extrusions a great solution compared to other materials and processes,” said Lewie Smith, AEC Building & Construction Industry Promotion Team Chair.
