
Social inventories of primary aluminium across eight consumption areas in China, including SHFE warrants, dropped by some 32,000 tonnes from Thursday November 8 to stand at 1.453 million tonnes as of Thursday November 15, Shanghai Metals Market data showed. Downstream buyers stockpiled as spot prices dipped on the week, and this accounted for decline in inventories. The week-on-week drop stood 8,000 tonnes lower from the decline last Thursday.
In some of the Chinese cities like Wuxi, and Nanhai, Gongyi the inventories declined over the week. In Wuxi and Nanhai, the inventory stood at 669,000 tonnes and 209,000 tonnes. The current inventory status in the major Chinese cities is as follow:

In another update from SMM, the A00 aluminium ingot price witnessed a hike today, on November 16, after a decline since November 8. Average A00 aluminium Ingot price rose by RMB 20 per tonne to RMB 13660 per tonne. The average prices are expected to range between RMB 13640 per tonne and RMB 13680 per tonne, with spot discounts to settle at RMB 60 to RMB 20 per tonne.
Aluminium ingot prices in East (Wu Xi) and East (Hang Zhou) are hovering at RMB 13665 per tonne and 13680 per tonne respectively. In the south, the price stood at RMB 13740 per tonne, up RMB 40 per tonne from RMB 13700 on November 16; in north, the price is hovering at RMB 13675 per tonne.

Inventories of aluminium billet also declined across all the major consumption areas in China on improved downstream purchases and limited arrivals.
Stocks of 6063 aluminium billet stood at 118,100 tonne on Thursday November15, down by some 11,700 tonnes over the week. The aluminium billet inventory in Wuxi, Jiangsu plunged by 6,100 tonnes to stand at 17,000 tonnes; while that in Huzhou, Zhejiang at 7,000 tonnes. For more details, refer to the chart below.

The price of aluminium alloys (ADC12) recorded no change on November 16.The price is still hovering at RMB 15,350 per tonne. The prices of aluminium alloy (A356) and aluminium alloy (A380) remained unchanged at RMB14350 per tonne and RMB16050 per tonne.
