
The city, known for its prodigious business hub or popularly recognised as the economic capital of India - Mumbai witnessed a prestigious One Day National Seminar on Development of Special Alloys and Composites of Aluminum for New India on 16th of March, 2018, organised by Aluminium Association of India (AAI), in association with Hindalco. The seminar was held in one of the plush venues in Mumbai, 18.99 Latitude Banquets, 4th Floor, Trade View building, situated at the prime location of the city, Lower Parel, Oasis Complex, Kamala Mills, Gate No.4.

The seminar was held in Mumbai by Aluminium Association of India (AAI), an apex body of all aluminium industries in the country, in association with the primary producers of Aluminium and leading ancillary and Downstream industries with a view to encourage an increasing use of Aluminium metal in various application sectors and to make sincere efforts in creating awareness about the new developments in science and technology of Aluminium alloys and composites on their production, processing and physical metallurgy of semis, performance evaluation and their broad applications.
The key highlights of the seminar also included how aluminium alloys and aluminium alloy composites (AACs) are becoming potential engineering materials, offering an excellent combination of properties such as high specific strength, high specific stiffness, electrical and thermal conductivities, low coefficient of thermal expansion and wear resistance. In addition, the seminar also emphasised on the use of aluminium alloys and aluminium alloy composites in varieties of applications including automobile, mining and mineral, aerospace, defence and other related sectors, owing to having an excellent combination of properties.
Under the direction of Additional Director General, Pratapaditya Mishra was the main organizer of the seminar. The eminent figures of the industry like Shri Arun Kumar, IAS, Secretary Ministry of Mines and Mr. A.K. Murthy, Hon. Gen. Secretary –AAI and GM -Nalco graced the seminar as the Chief Guests, along with Dr. T.K. Chand, Hon. President of AAI and CMD of Nalco who presided over the inaugural function and Shri Satish Pai, MD of Hindalco Industries Ltd. as the Guest of Honour.
The inaugural function was addressed by the Guest of Honour Ms. Stefania Costanza, Honourable Consulate General of Italy, who was introduced and sincerely thanked in the seminar by the President of METEF, Dr. Mario Conserva; the President of ArtValley, Francesca Bruni; the President of Assofond - Confindustria Roberto Ariotti; the President of Centro AL –Assomet- Confindustria, Mauro Cibaldi; the CEO of Jiwanram Sheoduttrai, Kamal Prakash; the director of ArtValley, Alberto Cavicchiolo; Director of A&L Alberto Pomari; and the Vice-President of FACE, Fabrizio Ciampoli for achieving a benchmark in Italian metallurgy in the context of her intervention at the very important national event.
Souvenirs were also released by the Chief Guests and other Dignitaries in the event, followed by the presentation of mementos. The seminar was rounded off with Chairman’s remarks and vote of thanks by Dr. Pratapaditya Mishra, Additional Director General of Aluminium Association of India.
