
China’s social inventory of primary aluminium including SHFE warrants stood at 1.77 million tonnes on Thursday January 25, down 19,000 tonnes from a week ago, SMM data showed. This is due to restocking ahead of the Chinese New Year holiday in mid-February. This has moved the domestic market lifting the average A00 ingot prices to RMB 14,550 per tonne.

This is a major gain in the second half of the month of January. The prices are expected to move within a range of RMB 14,530-14,570. Spot discount will range within RMB 140-100 per tonne today. Among the domestic markets, A00 price in South China market remains the highest at RMB 14,605 per tonne. Details of aluminium inventory in the major Chinese cities as on January 25 are as follows:

Average prices of aluminium alloys have registered a substantial gain in all markets today following the rise in A00 ingot price. Average Aluminum Alloys (ADC12) price increased to RMB 16,150 per tonne. Aluminium Alloy (A356) prices increased to RMB 15,250 per tonne and Aluminium Alloy (A380) prices increased to RMB 16,900 per tonne.
As for major raw materials are concerned, average spot alumina prices have registered a moderate gain to stand at RMB 2894 per tonne today. Bauxite and Prebaked anode prices remain unchanged today.
