A00 aluminium ingot price fluctuated over the week while alumina price performed higher

A00 aluminium ingot price in China fluctuated throughout the week. Ingot price started the week with a decline of RMB 60 per tonne to RMB 14250 per tonne on Monday.A00 aluminium ingot price continued higher in the next two days at RMB 14270 per tonne and RMB 14340 per tonne.

Shanghai Metals Market reported spot aluminium traded briskly across east and south China in the morning of Thursday August 29, as downstream consumers stepped up purchases after prices fell. Aluminium price stood at RMB 14260 per tonne, down RMB 80 per tonne from Wednesday. The price ended the week higher at RMB 14290 per tonne.

Social inventories of primary aluminium in China dropped this week, as stocks in most areas declined. Primary aluminium inventories decreased 20,000 tonnes from Thursday August 22 to stand at 1.04 million tonnes as of Monday August 26. As of Thursday August 29, stocks across eight consumption areas in China, including SHFE warrants, dropped 30,000 tonnes from a week ago to stand at 1.033 million tonnes.

As far as raw material is concerned, the average spot price of alumina continued to remain on upward track throughout the week. Alumina price started the week higher at RMB2491 per tonne on Monday, 26 August, up RMB 17 per tonne from August 23 and ended at RMB2520 per tonne on Friday.
