Ford Motor Co.’s best-seller 2017 Ford F-150 Super Duty has bagged the popular “Truck of Texas” award ideated by the Texas Auto Writers Association. The aluminium-body pickup truck managed to snag the top award at the 2016 Texas Truck Rodeo, where a host of other Ford vehicles too won awards in various categories.
This is the 13th time Ford has won the TAWA honours. In 2014 also, the Dearborn automaker won the Truck of Texas award for it’s the then best-selling aluminium-body F150 model.
The aluminium-body 2017 Super Duty was also chosen the best vehicle in the heavy duty pickup category; the F-150 with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 won Best Powertrain, and Ford also won Truck Line of Texas award.
“Ford’s all-new 2017 Super Duty and its innovative use of advance materials, as well as improvements in powertrain and features thoroughly impressed our journalists,” said TAWA President Nic Phillips. “This year’s Texas Truck Rodeo was by far the most competitive in the most categories. More than 70 member journalists put in more than the equivalent of 15 days of driving time in the competing vehicles. After careful evaluation, I believe the results of the competition show just how competitive the truck and utility vehicles are today.”

Ford upgraded its Super Duty for the 2017 award winning vehicle model for the first time ever since it was introduced in 1999. The automaker used aluminium body panels for 2017 Ford F-150 which not only helped it to shed weight by 350 pounds but also made it stronger! Other distinctive upgrades that have adorned the new pickup truck include 17 segment-first features, big LED lights and an adaptive cruise control for better on-road performance.
