Joedan is investing more than GBP 4 million (approx USD 5.3 million) in a major expansion of its Isle of Wight operation, a move expected to create up to 150 new jobs, including 30 apprenticeships, as the company strengthens its manufacturing footprint.

The expansion will include a new 25,000 sq ft manufacturing extension, additional machinery, warehousing, and a showroom at the company’s site on a 3.5-acre plot in Newport. Planning permission for the new manufacturing facility has already been secured.

Investment supports UK manufacturing jobs

Joedan founder John Purcaro said the company was prepared to invest at a time when the market remains challenging because of its long-term confidence in the Isle of Wight and the future of UK window and door manufacturing.

“Not many businesses of our size are investing at the scale we are in manufacturing, particularly in what remains a challenging market,” Purcaro said.

He added that the investment reflects the company’s belief in the opportunity and the future of UK manufacturing.

A key part of the expansion will be a new apprentice academy, providing training and career pathways in manufacturing, engineering, and design.

"We are prepared to invest because we believe in the opportunity, the Isle of Wight, and the future of UK window and door manufacturing", said Joseph Purcaro, managing director at Joedan, highlighting that the investment was intended to create skilled and sustainable employment while giving young people on the island a route into manufacturing, engineering, and design.

Aluminum and PVC-U production to expand

The enlarged operation will manufacture PVC-U products at scale alongside Joedan’s established aluminum range.

A new partnership with Eurocell will enable Joedan to produce both aluminum and PVC-U products. Initial output using Eurocell’s Logik chamfered PVC-U system is expected to reach 800 frames per month, increasing to 3,000 frames per month once the extension is completed and additional machinery is installed.

Joseph Purcaro said manufacturing PVC-U at volume requires both machinery and space, with the new facility providing room for the company to expand its operation.

Mr Purcaro said, "This investment is about much more than buildings and machinery. We want to create skilled, sustainable employment and provide young people on the Island with a route into manufacturing, engineering, and design."

David Woolley, head of sales at Eurocell, said, "Joedan’s investment represents a major vote of confidence in UK manufacturing and the Isle of Wight. It is an ambitious project led by a business with a strong heritage, experienced people, and a clear understanding of the markets it wants to serve."

He also described Joedan’s investment as a vote of confidence in UK manufacturing and the Isle of Wight.

The first customer-ready Logik frames are planned for November.
