
Global primary aluminium production stood at 5.452 million tonnes in July, an increase of 0.63% from 5.418 million tonnes in July 2019, according to the latest data showed by the International Aluminium Institute (IAI) on Thursday, 20 August 2020. On a month-on-month comparison, the output increased by 2.97% from 5.295 million tonnes.

Total primary aluminium production came in at 37.515 million tonnes in the first seven months of 2020, an increase of 1.2% from 37.071 million tonnes in the first seven months of 2019.
In Asia ex-China, aluminium production reduced by 7.8% year-on-year but up 1.78% month-on-month to 343,000 tonnes in July. In January-July, output came in at 2.391 million tonnes, a decrease of 6.78% from 2.565 million tonnes in January-July 2019.
In the Middle East, primary aluminium production stood at 488,000 tonnes, up 1.67% YoY and 2.95% MoM. In January and July, the output stood at 3.408 million tonnes, up from 3.198 million tonnes in January-July 2019.
Europe’s primary aluminium production stood at 632,000 tonnes and 4.374 million tonnes in July and January-July 2020. That was down 1.56% YoY and 1.13% YoY.
China’s estimated primary aluminium production stood at 3.131 million tonnes in July, IAI data showed.
